Information round childbirth


Pregnancy

For the first contact with the maternity clinic we refer to our labour room tours.


Appointment
If you want to deliver in our maternity clinic it could be recommendable to make an appointment while labour room tour or online. The best point in time is the completed 32nd week of gestation.
If you should better plan your delivery from a medical point you should make an appointment between 36th and 38th week of gestation.

Courses round childbirth
In cooperation with the “Familienzentrum – Kaiserswerther Diakonie” our mid-wives will prepare you for pregnancy, delivery and living with a baby.
Starting from the 36th week of gestation our special trained mid-wives offer you a special kind of acupuncture to facilitate delivery.

Childbirth and labour room

In case of starting contractions please get in touch with the labour room directly. You are expected by a qualified and professional team.

Labour room
In our four labour rooms we present you a few different possibilities to deliver:
bathtub
stool
mat
physio ball
rope
adjustable bed


Pain therapy
For pain release while delivery we make you available the following methods:
bath for relaxation
homoeopathy
massage aromatherapy
antispasmodic medicine
pain killer
a periduralanästhesie (PDA) will be given in cooperation with anaesthetics


Caesarean section
In case of a caesarean-section our anaesthesist can give you a regional anaesthetic so that you can contact your newborn directly in our operation room.


The childbed ward

We are attending daily to 32 pregnant women and women in childbed as well as to their newborn children.

“Rooming-in”
To us caring about mother and child is taking centre stage. During the day or if you want 24 hours daily (“rooming-in”) you can keep your newborn in your room while we are ready to help at any time.

Room for family
Two family rooms are available for you to enjoy your perfect happy family. But we ask for your appreciation if those rooms are occupied.

Ward round
Your health care is guaranteed by daily ward round. Additional there is special interdisciplinary ward round once a week by gynaecologists and paediatrics for visiting the high risk cases.

U1 and U2 – examination of the newborn
Depending on your hospital stay the U1- and U2-examination will take place in our hospital by our paediatrics.

Breast feeding advices
Our team is supplemented by special trained nurses for breast feeding advice.

Childbed gymnastics
A team of physiotherapists offers you gymnastics in childbed daily (Monday to Friday) from 10 a.m. to 10.30 a.m.

Breakfast and Dinner buffet
daily from 7.30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Visiting hours
We have open-plan visiting hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m..
In the interests of our patients we beg you to consider a generally accepted rest period at noon and at night.

Register office
As a special service we help you to announce your newborn at the register office.

Discharge from hospital
We keep caring about you even if you are discharged from hospital.
